HIKROBOT smart cameras combine sensor, processor and deep learning inference in one compact housing. They solve inspection, positioning, counting and identification tasks without an external PC and connect to your PLC via industrial protocols.

Frequently asked questions

When is a smart camera the right choice?

When a self-contained inspection or identification task should run directly at the line without a separate industrial PC, or when the system must be commissioned quickly without programming.

Do I still need an external computer?

No. Image capture, processing and I/O run on the camera itself; results are transferred to the PLC or MES over Ethernet based protocols.

How is the deep learning model trained?

Typical defect and OK samples are labeled in the configuration software; the model is trained and deployed to the camera, and self-training models refine themselves during operation.

More questions about smart cameras

How do smart cameras report results to the line?

Results are output as digital I/O signals for simple OK/NOK sorting and over industrial Ethernet protocols to the PLC, so the camera integrates like any other field device.

Can one smart camera run several inspection steps?

Yes. A job can chain multiple tools – locate, measure, count, read codes – on one trigger, and different jobs can be selected per product changeover.

What lighting and optics do smart cameras use?

Many models ship with integrated illumination and selectable lenses that cover common working distances. For demanding surfaces an external machine vision light can be triggered by the camera.
